Frequently Asked Questions
How does the suspension make the truck brake so well?
The Talon design uses a torque arm design fixed directly to the axle. This design prevents the axle from winding-up or deflecting under the torque load during acceleration or deceleration. In a leaf spring design, the torque actually causes the rear to drop during acceleration and rise during braking. In our design, the torque causes the opposite to occur. During braking, the normal weight shift onto the front suspension occurs simultaneously with the rear-end squatting from the torque reaction. The net effect is the whole truck "hugs" the ground.
Why does the Talon suspension ride so well?
The large heavy duty sir spring in the patent pending design is supported by a lever arm that reduces the travel of the spring. This allows the Talon system to keep the air spring in its "sweet spot" for the best ride characteristics. We also tune the ride with custom air accumulators and air-modulated shock absorbers. The Talon system literally tunes itself to every load.
Does the Talon Suspension make my truck last longer?
Yes, The Talon system reduces the wear and tear on your drive train and the vibration fatigue on your chassis and cab. More importantly, it reduces the wear and tear on your body!
Does the system automatically adjust for different towing loads?
Yes, the system uses an automatic delayed leveling valve that adjust the air pressure in the suspension system to match the load applied. The air pressure in turn, tunes the dampening valves of the rear shocks to match the new load.
Why isn't the compressor covered by the same warranty?
The compressor life is affected by environmental factors like heat and dust. While Talon uses very high quality compressors designed to last the lifetime of the system: wear and tear inflicted on the compressor by different customers means we can't reliably predict the lifespan of the compressor. Follow the instructions and maintenance program provided in your user guide for maximum compressor performance and reliability.
Does the system come only in red?
The Talon suspension can be special ordered in other colors through your authorized dealer.
After loading a trailer, how long does it take for the air springs to fill?
The Talon system was designed to make the task of hooking-up and dropping a trailer much easier. Use the kneel feature to lower the hitch under the tongue of the trailer and then raise it to hook -in. The main reservoir of the system is designed to fill the suspension from the full kneel position without requiring the air compressor to finish the lift. This allows you to hook-up and drive away, right away!
